BBC recording artist James Meldrum has fast established himself as an exciting and versatile clarinetist in the UK and Europe. After gaining both a first class BMus (hons) degree and an Advanced PGDip with Distinction from the Royal College of Music, London, he is currently holding the position of principal clarinet with the New European Ensemble in The Hague and is pursuing a busy career as an orchestral and chamber musician as well as a recital and concerto soloist.

While studying James held a Foundation and Postgraduate scholarship from the RCM and also held the MBF Music Education Award, MBF Ian Flemming Award, Countess of Munster Musical Trust Award, and the Wilkins-Mackerras Scholarship.

After winning his first orchestral trial at the age of 20 James, has played with the Philharmonia Orchestra, LSO, the English Chamber Orchestra and the London Chamber Orchestra as well as being guest principal clarinet with international orchestras including Iceland Symphony Orchestra, de Filharmonie Antwerpen, the Young Janacek Philharmonic and the Kazakhstan Philhamonic Orchestras. He has collaborated with many renowned musicians including Levon Chilingirian, Ricardo Muti, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Sir Colin Davies and Sir Simon Rattle to name a few.

Polish pianist and international chamber musician Maciej Kassak began playing music at the age of seven with cello being his first instrument. Following the footsteps of his mother he took on violin when he was nine, and at the age of 11, trumpet became his major instrument. At the age of 17(!) he started learning the piano under the guidance of well known Polish pianists, Katarzyna Popowa Zydron, Waldemar Wojtal and Wlodzimierz Wiesztordt.

In 2002 Maciej graduated with first class honours in piano performance from the Conservatory of Music in Gdynia, having studied in professor Bogdan Kulakowski class. While studying he was awarded the prestigious “Minister of Culture and Arts” scholarship – twice in consecutive years! He has performed at many important musical events and festivals including “Mlode Talenty Gdanska” & “Bydgoskie ImpresjeMuzyczne” in Poland, “Bordeaux Fete le Vin” and “St Emillion Music Festival” France, “Schleswig Holstein MusikFestival” Germany and “Tilburg and The Hague Young Musicians Festival” Holland.

For his diploma in piano accompaniment Maciej studied at the Royal College of Music with professor Nigel Clayton.

VIRTUOSOS perform both on land - in such venues as The Baltic Philharmonic Hall in Poland, The Apex and Hay on Wye in the UK, Branoul Theatre in The Nederlands, appearing "live" on American radio KMFA - and at sea on the world’s most luxurious ocean and cruise liners, including The Yachts of Seabourn, Silversea, Holland America Line and Cunard, and have sailed around the whole globe.

In 2013 VIRTUOSOS released their first CD album “Grenadilla and Ivory” and are currently working on their second album which will include fantastic versions of most loved arias from Verdi's and Bizet's operas.
